MARY OTHELLA WRIGHT DAVEY Milo Mary Othella Wright Davey, daughter of Guy F. Wright and Eunice Flanagan Wright, was born December 28, 1917, near Dallas, Iowa, in Marion County. She moved to a farm east of Milo, Iowa, February 27, 1933. She completed her freshman year of high school at Dallas, and then attended Milo High School, graduating in 1936. On Sunday morning, September 5, 1937, Othella was married to Roy G. Davey at her parents' home. The couple set up housekeeping on Roy's father's farm. In October of 1949 they moved to a farm north of Milo, where they lived until 1974, when they built a new home in Milo. After Roy's retirement, they enjoyed many years of traveling. Prior to Roy's death in January 2001, they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Othella was a member of the Milo United Methodist Church where she served as superintendent of the primary Sunday school and president of the church's women's society. Serving as chairman of the dining room, she was in charge of many wedding receptions, funeral dinners, fall suppers, and Lions Club dinners. Using her love for flowers, she cared for the church flower beds as well as her own flowers. Othella was preceded in death by a son Gordon Wright Davey, husband Roy, her parents, and a brother, Idris. She is survived by a brother Dwight Wright of Lincoln, Nebraska; two sons, Allen (wife Trudy) of Ankeny, Leo (wife Deanna) of Milo; a daughter, Diane Burgmaier (husband Lonnie) of Creston; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Services for Othella Davey, 97, who passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015, will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 13 at the Milo United Methodist Church where family will be present from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. to greet friends.
