MARY LOU SARGENT Indianola Services for Mary Lou Sargent, 87, who passed away, Thursday, January 17, 2013 at The Village in the Indianola, will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery. She is survived by her sons, Tom (Mary Lou) Sargent and Steve (Lynn) Sargent; brother, Jim (Colleen) Killam; sister, Margaret Greener; four grandchildren, Piper Sargent (Jason) McGehe, Jordan Sargent, Brody Sargent and Lindsie Cooper (Mark) Moberg; three great-grandchildren, Sage McGehe, Bryn McGehe and Guinevere Moberg; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Keith, four brothers and two sisters. Mary Lou was born in St. Charles, IA to parents Earl and Henrietta Killam and was one of nine children. The family moved to Indianola, IA when Mary Lou was in the third grade. She graduated from Indianola High School in the class of 1944 and lived in Indianola for the remainder of her life. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir there. After many years as a mother and homemaker, Mary Lou worked for Warren County Abstract; Hall, Ewalt, Hayden and Hall Law Firm; and the Warren County Clerk and Recorder offices. The last seven years of her life were spent in the loving care of the nurses and staff at The Village in Indianola. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 22 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association to aid in research, support programs and services.
