MARY LOUISE McELROY Indianola Services for Mary Louise (Brockway) McElroy, 82, who passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at her daughter Sheryl's home in Manning, Ia, will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, June 15 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church, with burial following in the Palmyra Cemetery. Mary Louise had battled lung cancer for the last six months after being diagnosed five years ago. She was surrounded with love from her family and friends for the last week. Mary Louise was born in Des Moines, Ia, April 7, 1931 to B.H. and Mary Elizabeth Brockway. She grew up outside of Des Moines on her parents' farm. She graduated from Indianola High School where she met Raymond McElroy and they were joined in marriage August 20, 1950. Mary Louise and Raymond celebrated their 62nd Anniversary last August with family and friends. They built their home close to her parents and raised four children. Mary Louise was a homemaker and greeted her kids every day after school. Twelve years ago they moved to Indianola and made wonderful friends in their new neighborhood. Mary Louise loved and followed her God and she loved her family deeply. She also enjoyed reading, ceramics, her church and church family. Survivors include her husband, Raymond; four children, Mary Rae McElroy, Sheryl (Rick) Dammann, Joyce (Michael) Massey and Laurince (Lisa Bubon) McElroy; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Dianna McElroy. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, BJ Brockway; sister-in-law, Darlene Brockway; and brother-in-law, Edwin McElroy. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 14 at the church with family present to greet friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to a charity of your choice.
