Mary K. Lile, 63, went home to be with Our Lord on Thursday, March 11, 2010. Visitation will be 1 to 5pm Sunday, March 14 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA where family will be present from 3 to 5pm. Funeral services will be held at10:30 am Monday, March 15 at the Trinity-United Presbyterian Church of Indianola. The family will receive visitors following services at the church. Graveside services will be held 3 pm Monday at South St. Petri Cemetery of Gilbert, Iowa. Family will receive visitors after the interment at the Gilbert Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years Bill; sons, Jim (Helen) Lile, Mark (Karen) Lile, Jeff (Mary) Lile; 6 grandchildren, Devin, Kelsey, Andrew, Kristy, Nathan, and Jillian; step-mother, Donna Peterson; brothers, Ron (Carol) and Loren (Laura); sister-in-law, Carolyn (Jim) Hoagland; step-sisters, Marcia (Hap) Steed and Nancy (Bob) Landess; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Gladys Peterson.
Mary was born July 11, 1946 in Ames, Iowa to Lester and Gladys Peterson and married Bill Lile December 14, 1963. Mary grew up on a farm near Gilbert Iowa and graduated from Gilbert High School. She spent most of her married life in the Des Moines area. Mary lead by example with her strong, Christian faith in the Lord. She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Indianola and Ackworth Garden Club. She loved her husband, children and especially her grandchildren. She loved camping, entering items at Pioneer Hall during Iowa State Fair, fireworks, watching the Indianola Balloon Races from her backyard and watching Iowa State Basketball. Mary fought a long battle with a rare liver disease. She was a strong advocate of organ donation. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
