Mary Jean Helderlein (née Lumina), age 92, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026. She was born on January 5, 1934, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Guiseppi and Cesira Lumina, as an only child. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Mary had a creative eye and a deeply welcoming heart. She loved flowers, kittens, and her giant puppy, Bella. Deeply proud of her Italian heritage, Mary was an incredible cook who loved feeding those around her — she was always the ultimate hostess, and no one ever left her house hungry. Some of her most cherished years were spent sharing her artistic side as a gift shop owner alongside her daughter, Susan, in Auburn, California.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Susan Rabe (Jeffrey) and Sharon Gregori; her grandchildren, Joshua Rabe (Shayla) and Tory Froslie; and her great-grandchildren, Jonas and Stella Rabe.
