MARY BECK CUNNINGHAM
Services for Mary Brommel Beck Cunningham, 85, who passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Marys, Iowa. Interment will take place in the St. Marys Cemetery at a later date.
Mary was born February 27, 1933, in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from St. Marys Community School in 1951. Mary was a devoted farm wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother. Mary was very deep in her Catholic faith. In later years she enjoyed wintering, then later residing in Texas. She was active in quilting, tennis, square dancing and she also played a very competitive game of Fast Track (she always had to be "red").
Mary is survived by her husband Mitch; her six children, Joyce (Joe) Gavin, Fred (Shannon) Beck, Karen (Larry) Goodrich, Jeannine (Jim) Spick, Patty (Mark) Howell, and Randall (Trish) Beck; brothers, Bernard Brommel, Denny Brommel; and sister, Pat Eskra; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; step children David, Dana, Darcy, Denise, Debra Cunningham and Diane Tayon.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband Benny Beck, parents Bill and Nellie Brommel, brothers Dan and Phil Brommel, sisters Marilyn and Virginia Brommel and Florence Cairo, as well as grandson Brad Goodrich.
Mary will be remembered for her outgoing, friendly and humorous personality, wonderful meals and delicious baked goodies.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Diocesan Catholic Seminarian Fund, the St. Marys Fire and Rescue Department or the Martensdale Fire and Rescue Department Association.
