Jo Crane, a native of Erie, Illinois, died in her home in Indianola, Iowa on Saturday, May 31, 2014. Mrs. Crane enjoyed a long and productive career. In the late Sixties, she became one of the first female mall managers in the United States, overseeing the activities of the Bel Air Mall in Mobile, Alabama. She also assisted her husband, Gene Crane, in the management of his exterminating company, which had offices in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. She is survived by her daughter, Jenne Simmons, of Indianola; her brother, John Anson, of New Albany, Mississippi; and her sister, Joyce Splitt, of Venice, Florida.
