Services for Mary "Lou" Cornia, 74, who passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 4 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mary Lou was born and raised in Omaha NE, the oldest of 3 girls. This is also where she met and married the love of her life. She and Ross shared almost 42 years of marriage before his passing in 2003. After his passing, Lou remained in the home she and Ross bought in 1975, very much enjoying her independence.
Anyone who spent time with Mary Lou knew she thrived on being busy. From her many years as a cashier at Fareway to her love of yard work, flower planting, reading and spending time with her Grandkids. She was always available to take grandkids to school or pick them up. The afternoon school pick up frequently included a quick run through the drive-thru at McDonalds or Burger King.
When not picking up or dropping kids off, you could count on seeing Lou make her almost daily run to UnCommon Grounds for coffee or a quick bite at the Crouse Cafe. And let's not forget how much she loved to have her hair "just right" and her nails always done. Her sharp sense of humor and love for chatting will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her children, Farley (Becky) Cornia, Dawn (Michael) Ruggles, Audra (Jim) Zimmerman; sisters, Marilyn (Dennis) Long and Marie (Howard) Fleming; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Cornia and parents, Gus and Loretta Han.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 3 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial may be made to the family in her name.
