Marvelee Davison, 85, of Indianola, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2023 at the Village in Indianola. Services  will be held 10 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Indianola Church of Christ. Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m., following services in the Sunset View Cemetery, Moulton, Iowa.

Marvelee was born on January 29, 1938, to Beecher and Bertha (Smith) Spurgeon. She grew up on a farm south of Moulton with her brother Bobby and sisters Mary Jane and Shirley. On June 20, 1954 she married her sweetheart Orton and graduated from Moulton High school in May the following year. She and Orton were happily married for 49 years until his death in September 2003.

Marvelee and Orton made their home in the Indianola area and were blessed with five children, Richard, Brenda, Mark, Brad and Penny.

Marvelee loved music and playing the piano and organ for church. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for years. Baking, especially cinnamon rolls, gardening, canning, crafts and sewing outfits for her children and grandchildren were among her favorite things to do.

Marvelee was a woman of tremendous faith making sure that her children were raised to know the Lord. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whenever they came to visit, she bubbled over with joy!

Marvelee is survived by her sister Shirley Fowler, children Richard (Joy) Davison, Brenda DePauw, Mark (Lynda) Davison, Brad (Shelley) Davison, Penny (Kevin) Huss, 14 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Orton, brother Bobby Spurgeon, sister Mary Jane Withrow, daughter-in-law Diane Davison, son-in-law Jim DePauw and daughter-in-law Kay Davison.

Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, September 21 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 5 to 7 pm.  Memorials in Marvelee's name may be made to the Indianola Church of Christ.
