Visitation for Marlene Kay Lester, 69, of Indianola, Iowa, who passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026 in Des Moines, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2026, at Overton Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in the Liberty Center Cemetery, Liberty Center.

Marlene absolutely loved spending time with her family. It didn't matter if it was a lazy afternoon or going on an adventure. She had always been an avid reader and had read countless books from the time she was a child.

Marlene also liked to watch Olympic figure skating, movies and TV shows. (She got her 86-year-old mother hooked on The Bachelor). She worked at EMC insurance for nearly 40 years and made many wonderful friends there.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Kerry Lester; son, Keith (Michelle) Lester; grandchildren, Mary Hanson and Charlene Lester; great-granddaughter Evangeline; sister, Marie (Kelly) Burzette; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Arlene Miner.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Marlene may be given to Kiya Koda Humane Society.
