Marlene Eleanor Cratty (née Charles) was born in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania on July 30, 1940 to parents John Wilbert Charles and Sara Elizabeth Neff. She passed away in Marshalltown, Iowa on January 16, 2024 at the age of 83. Her family includes her daughter, Denise Clark; granddaughters Michelle McCarrell Lopez (and her husband Edward), Mishara McCarrell, and Catie Mallas; and grandsons Allan Stott, William, Steven, Charles, Josh, and the late Brandon and Brian Mallas; and a great-grandson, Edward Lopez, Jr. (Teddie). She included among her loved ones her in-laws and their extended families.

Marlene spent the majority of her life in Iowa enjoying the company of family and friends. With her adventurous spirit, she crisscrossed the Midwest to attend rodeos and try her luck at casinos. A lover of puzzles and board games, she enjoyed entertaining her grandkids with spirited games of Yahtzee and Chinese Checkers. Marlene was known for being unfiltered, often ready with a candid remark that left everyone either laughing or blushing. Whether it was her infamous deviled eggs gracing every holiday gathering or the cards she sent for every birthday, Marlene's presence was truly one of a kind. While we will deeply miss her, the laughter and surprise she brought to our lives will forever be cherished.
