MARLAN F. DOUGHTY Des Moines Marlan F. Doughty, 79, passed away on July 19, 2013. A Celebration of Marlan's Life will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 24 at the Indianola Freedom Fellowship Church, 2604 N. Jefferson Way, Indianola, with visitation one hour prior to services starting at 10 a.m. Interment of cremains will be held at a later date. Marlan was born on May 20, 1934 to Frederick and Mary (Moore) Doughty in LaVern, IA. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1952 and was united in marriage to Luana J. Sahl, his beloved wife, in 1961. Marlan was employed as a heating and air conditioning design/estimator for 45 years. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed attending sporting events of nieces/great nieces, nephews/great nephews all around the Midwest. Marlan, along with Luana, loved to travel, visiting friends and family throughout the United States along the way. Survivors include his wife, Luana Doughty; and nieces and nephews, Cleo (Dolores) Doughty, Arlo Doughty, Wayne (Vi) Yarber, Trent (Lisa) Hodne, Jill (Bert) Bissen, Amy (Shawn) Corbin, Kelly (Lance) Grummert, Kristy (Brian) Buttrey, Erica (Mike) Case, Jason (April) Sahl, Fletcher Sahl and Wendy Sahl. Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Helen Middleton and Lillian Smith; brother, Marshall Doughty; nephews, Glenn Ione and Weldon Yarber; and nieces, Mary Knutson and Juanita Howard. Marlan will be remembered fondly by his family, many great nieces and nephews, and friends.
