Obituary

Marjorie Irene (Nolin) Farmer, 89, Indianola, Iowa passed away on February 5th, 2025, surrounded by her daughter and grandsons.

Marge was born on September 17th, 1935, in Reasoner, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy Ellsworth Nolin and Freda Irene (Rexroat) Nolin.

Marge graduated from Oak Park High School in 1953.

Marge married Homer Dale Farmer Jr in Des Moines, Iowa. They were married until Homer's passing on September 12th, 2014. One interesting story from their union was that they met on January 4th, engaged on July 4th, and were wed in October on the 4th, all in 1969.

Marge would start working shortly out of high school for Principal Financial Group, though Bankers Life when she started. She would end up being with the company for 33 years, with 12 years split in the middle starting in 1969 when she stayed home to be a wife and shortly after a mother to Jenn in 1972. From 1978-1981 she would work for Simpson College Theatre department and then return to Principal until she retired in 1998. After that retirement she went on to work for the Balloon Federation of America for eight years until 2007 when she welcomed twin grandsons.

The remaining family to cherish Marge's memory is her daughter, Jennifer and her grandsons, Nick, Alex and Gino. Marge was also fortunate enough to have Homer's sister and her husband survive her, Jo and Wayne Witt. She also has a huge family of nieces and nephews and cousins on both sides of the family tree.

Preceding Marge in death are Homer her husband of 44 years, Her parents Roy and Freda Nolin, Both of her brothers Delmar and Harold.

To anyone who knew Marge the most important things for her were her family, which included a slew of furry family members, her love of her friends who she met up with regularly for lunches. Especially the "roommate" group. Maybe most importantly, her love of politics.
