Funeral services for Marion F. Vander Werff, 82, of Des Moines formerly of Indianola who died Friday, September 23, will be held Tuesday, September 27, at 11:00 a.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Union Chapel Cemetery, north of Mingo.  Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, September 26 at the funeral home with family present to greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Born in Jasper County, he had lived in Indianola since 1957 before recently moving to Des Moines. Marion had worked as an Agency manager for Farm Bureau in Osceola and Indianola before working at Laverty Elevator in Indianola in Agriculture sales and consulting. He enjoyed traveling, watching sports and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are his daughter, Jane Vander Werff of Los Lunas, NM; two brothers, Gary and wife Joan of Des Moines and Dick and wife Doris of Adel; a sister-in-law, Grace Vander Werff of Newton;  a granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie (Earl) McConnell; three great-granddaughters, Anna Marie, Jordan Lenae and Genesis and a great grandson Mikel.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; a daughter, Judy Flint; two brothers, John and Lawrence; and a sister, Dorothy Barrale.

Memorials may be given to Chapel of Faith or American Heart Association.
