Services for Marilyn Fern Trotter, 91, who passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at The Village in Indianola, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Belmont Cemetery, Milo, IA.

Marilyn worked at City State Bank in New Virginia until she retired on 12/31/1992.  She was a Cub Scouts den mother.  She would provide hot chocolate and brownies after the New Virginia Boy Scouts came back from sledding. If the New Virginia fire fighters were at a fire for a long time, she would deliver food and drink to them.

Marilyn enjoyed gardening.  She grew various vegetables and canned or froze the produce from the garden.  She also had various flower beds and flowerpots.

She sewed and made school bags as a mission project for the church.  She also folded the weekly Sunday morning bulletins for the church.

Marilyn enjoyed camping.  We camped as a family and took numerous camping vacations.  She has traveled to almost all 50 states as well as to some areas of Canada.  She wintered in Texas for several years.  She also took the Amtrack train to see Richard in western Colorado twice a year until she was not able to go.

She enjoyed playing cards with friends and families.  We played games when we went camping.  As children, Marilyn and Gene played cards every Saturday night with their friends.  There was always laughter when they were playing pitch.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Genelle (Gerald) Truitt and Richard (Deb) Trotter; grandchildren, Michelle (Harold) Bryant, Jeannie (James) Perdue, Rebecca (Mitch) Wieczorek and Patty (Roger) Coombs; great-grandchildren, Alex Bryant, Clorissa and Zach Perdue, Michelle and Sienna Wieczorek, Kyle (Megan) Coombs, Brandon (Courtney) Borgard, Clayton (Cyalence Luark) Coombs and Sabree (Tavis Bensley) Coombs; great-great grandchildren, Roman, Gabriel, Addy, Killian, Landon and Ryker; brother, Dwight (Diane) Dollison; sisters-in-laws Frances Dollison and Joyce Dollison and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Helene Dollison, husband, Lester Trotter, brothers, Robert and Larry Dollison and nephew Brad Dollison.

Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2022 at Overton Funeral Home.  Those who wish to honor her life can give to the Indianola First Assembly of God Church or The Good Shepherd Fund at The Village in Indianola in her memory.
