Obituary

Marian Rosella Hoppe Pemble, was born in Rock Rapids, Iowa on July 28, 1913 to Julius and Josephine Hoppe.  Marian graduated from high school in Sumner, Iowa and received her degree from Iowa State University.  While attending Iowa State, Marian met Vincent Pemble and they were married after graduation.

For most of their married life, Marian and Vincent made their home and raised their children in Indianola, Iowa.  Marian worked side-by-side with her husband in the family hardware store and Pemble Fruit Farm.  She also taught in several area schools.

Marian was an accomplished musician who played the piano and recently found joy in playing the electric organ.  For many years, Marian taught piano lessons in her home.  Since January 2006, Marian had been living at the Wesley Village in Indianola, Iowa.

Marian sustained injuries in June 2006 from an accidental fall at the Village and her condition deteriorated rapidly; she died on July 4, 2006.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent and daughter, Joan Craven.  She is survived by sons, Richard Pemble and wife, Helen, John Pemble and wife, Janice, Dennis Mathes and wife, Kathy and Leroy Mathes; six grandchildren, Stephen Craven, Geoffrey Pemble and wife Lisa, Johanna Staael and husband Rick, Paul Craven and wife Valerie, Daniel Pemble and Patricia Pemble; five great-grandchildren, Ayesha Pemble, William Pemble, Alyssa Craven, Micah Pemble and Austin Pemble; brother, Manley Hoppe and two nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola, Iowa.  The family requests memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church or the Indianola Public Library.
