Services for Margret Jean Hines, 95, of Indianola who passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Vintage Hills Memory Care Unit in Indianola, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O. F. Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to services from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margret was born on September 4, 1929 to Emil and Effie Sampson, along with a twin sister Marjory, in Osceola, Iowa.

She graduated from Osceola High School, taught country school, worked for Eastern Airlines in Chicago, the Osceola Hospital and Bankers Life in her early years.

Margret was united in marriage to Kenneth Hines. Together they had two sons, Brent and Mark.  They also farmed near Indianola raising crops and livestock.

She loved taking care of all types of animals and giving them medical treatments.  She also enjoyed spending time with her sisters and their families.  She was an excellent cook and loved working in her garden.

Margret was a member of the First Baptist Church in Indianola.  She also spent many years working in the Sunday School office.

Margret was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, sisters Wilma Kentner, Mary Alice Blair and Marjory Liggitt; brothers-in-law, Clair Kentner, Marven Blair and Emmett Liggitt.  She is survived by her sons, Brent Hines, Mark (Rita) Hines; grandson, Riley Hines; sister, Vesta (Jim) Emary, as-well-as many nieces and nephews.
