Cap was born in Adel, graduated from Oskaloosa High School and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for Central Paving in Indianola for 42 years retiring in 1989. Cap was very active in the Indianola Kiwanis, enjoyed traveling and following his grandchildren's activities. In 1973, he married Norma Westerly and was married to her until her death in 1985. He then was married to Irene Love in 1999 until her death in 2003.
Surviving are Jim (Vicki) Westerly of Indianola, Judy (Butch) Weeks of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Dirk Westerly, Blair (Kara) Westerly, Breck Westerly, Mike (Amy) Weeks, Deanna Carroll, Debbie (Larry) Hunt, Jim (Diane) Love and Cory (Amy) Love; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hazel Capper; his two wives; step-daughter, Joyce Yates; and great-grandson, Bobby Love; brother, Jack Capper.
Visitation will be held 4 – 8 p.m., Thursday, April 10 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where the family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Chapel of Faith Church or Indianola Kiwanis Club.
