Indianola

Services for Lyle E. Weeks, 82 who passed away Monday, October 31, 2016, will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 3 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola IOOF Cemetery.

He grew up on a farm south of Indianola and graduated from Indianola High School. Lyle married Katherene Mae Brocker, his high school sweetheart, on April 3, 1954.

Lyle was member of the NFO. He started a dairy with his son Ron in the 1960's and retired from the dairy business when he sold the dairy in 1987.  He retired from farming and moved to Indianola in 2001.

Lyle was a life long fan of the Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He attended every basketball, baseball, and fast -pitch softball game or track meet his kids or grandkids were in. His hobbies were fishing, traveling and spending time at prairie meadows.

Survivors include his wife Katherene; children Ron Weeks, Randy Weeks and Rhonda Weeks; daughter-in-law Cindy Weeks; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald Weeks; sisters, Gladys Trotter and Lorraine Hill.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David Weeks, sister, Flossie Kaldenberg and twin infant brother and sister.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 2 at Overton Funeral Home with family present from 6 to 8 p.m.  Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
