IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lyle Dee
Rodda
December 21, 1933 – August 2, 2025
Lyle Dee Rodda, son of Ernest J. Rodda and Leva L. Sinnard, was born on December 21, 1933. He passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola at the age of 91. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 7 in the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Lyle was married to Lucille Wagner and they were blessed with a son Richard and a daughter Cindy. They divorced and he remained single for 20 years until marrying Mary (Putney) Berry on May 3, 2003 in the Indianola First Baptist Church.
Lyle worked as an autobody man for his uncle and at different garages for 30 years. He also worked at South Ridge Mall for 14 years in maintenance and as a security guard. In 2000, he moved to Berwick to be near his brother and worked at the Sunny Brook Mobile Home Park, where he then retired. He continued to do odd jobs for his neighbors. Lyle spent most of his life using his knowledge to fix and repair anything and everything, and he loved every minute. His tools were his most prized possessions and he loved working in his garage.
Lyle is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Cindy of Tallahassee, AL; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Peggy Kirkpatrick of Indianola, Betty (Joel) Johannsen of Mitchellville; and 2 step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard; brother, Leland; and sister-in-law, Helen.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lyle's memory to his wife for a contribution at a later date.
