Lura Maxine Dryer Indianola Those who met Lura Maxine Dryer know she was one-of-a-kind. She loved people, enjoyed their company, asking them questions and was never at a loss for words. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Lura Maxine Dryer, 94, of Indianola, passed away January 1, 2015 at Kavanagh House. A Memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, January 5 in the Heritage Room at The Village in Indianola where the family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Lura was an avid Bridge player and a Life Master. She was a long-time member of PEO and Beta Sigma Phi Sororities. During her lifetime she lived in California, Nebraska, Illinois, Oklahoma and Florida. Generous with her time, she volunteered with various groups in communities in which she resided. Lura and J.D., her husband of 40 years, loved to travel including extensive international trips. In 2009 she returned to her beloved Iowa setting up residence in The Village in Indianola where she actively attended and participated in all events; daily devotions, the food committee, exercise, playing games, and book club just to name a few. Lura was born in Ottumwa, IA on November 30, 1920, to William A. Jones and Nora B. (Montgomery) Jones. J. D. Dryer, sister Madeline Luke, and two grandchildren Robert William Dryer and Heather Lynn Dryer preceded her in death. She will be deeply missed by her sons and their wives Stephen J.
