Obituary

Services for Loyce E. Gandy, 77, who died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at home, will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 5 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m., Saturday in the Stanwood Cemetery.

Loyce Evelyn Baugh was born December 16, 1930 on a farm North of East Amana, Iowa in Iowa County the daughter of Harold and Gladys Baugh. She married Albert (Bud) Gandy on April 17, 1949 and to this union two children were born; a son, Harold (Bunker) Gandy and a daughter, Nita Loyce Nancy Gandy. The family lived in six different state parks over Iowa where Bud was Park Ranger for 30 years. After Bud's death in 1983, Loyce began work for Gary Taylor in 1987 at Copy Plus and continued there over 20 years.

Loyce was an out door person; she enjoyed gardening, camping, horseback riding, water skiing, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and cheering her family on in ball games. She and four older grandchildren started a youth ministry in Indianola at Browns Chapel called Consuming Fire. Meetings were held after church on Sunday nights.

Loyce's family includes a son, Harold and daughter-in-law, Joan Gandy; a daughter, Nita and son-in-law, David Chaplin all of Indianola. Nine grandchildren, B.J. and Tarica Gandy, Mandy, Brian, Jessica, Natasha, Shyanna, Zachary and Destiny Chaplin. Loyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud and two brothers, Art and Eugene.

Surviving are her son, Harold (Joan) Gandy and daughter, Nita (David) Chaplin all of Indianola; 9 grandchildren, B.J. and Tarica Gandy, Mandy, Brian, Jessica, Natasha, Shyanna, Zachary and Destiny Chaplin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud, and two brothers Art and Eugene.

Visitation will be held 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where the family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Indianola Christian Union Church.
