Obituary

Services for Lowell E. Oberender, 75, who died Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Village Care Facility, in Indianola, will be held 10 a.m., Monday May 4 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Lowell was born in rural Warren County, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked at the Massey Ferguson Mfg. plant in Des Moines, as a spot welder, and later years owned Obe's Pest control, before retiring.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie, of Altoona; sons Caroll (Laurey) and Keith (Kathy) of Indianola; grandchildren Katie Fina (Kevin), Matt Oberender ( Katie), Nate Oberender, Brad Oberender, Wes Oberender, and Courtney Oberender; step grandson Scott Nestvedt; great grandchildren Tate and Ellie Fina, and Remington Oberender; step grandson Jarrett Nestvedt; one sister Dorothy (Dennis) Miller; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Cecil Oberender; one sister Mary; and three brothers Frank, Merlin, and Paul.

Family would like to thank the Village Staff and Residents for your friendship, and excellent care that you provided for Lowell, during his long stay there. Also, a warm thanks to all the great people at Hospice of Central Iowa. You were all a special part of his life!

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 3 at Overton Funeral Home where the family will be present. Memorials can be made to the Good Shepherd Fund at the Village Care Facility, and Hospice of Central Iowa. Online condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com.
