A Funeral Mass for Louis (Lou) Fusco, 65, of Indianola, who passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015, will be held 10 a.m., Friday, August 21, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Louis Michael Fusco was born in 1949 Astoria, Queens, New York. He attended Catholic grammar school at St. Catherine of Alexandria in Brooklyn, New York. He went to High School at Bishop Ford Catholic High School from 1963-67. For a year, he studied at Kingsboro Community College before deciding to get away from New York and pursue education at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa from 1969-1971. When he graduated from Simpson he wanted to study law, so he moved back to New York where he attended St. John's Law University from 1972 to 1975. After graduating from Law School, he realized how much he'd enjoyed Indianola; he brushed up on Iowa law and returned to take (and pass) the Iowa Bar Exam. He started as an Associate of Wilson and Fowler law office where he would eventually go on to become a full partner. Lou practiced law in Indianola for 39 years, and in that time, he became an integral part of the community fabric. As he was from the big city, he had a particular fondness for small town living. Lou was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was involved with countless community organizations throughout the years. Alongside his career, Lou had a great love of music and performance and always had a good joke ready to tell. Lou is survived by his children, Audrey (Garret), Maddy (John), and Johnathan; his former spouse, Lori Hayden; and his brother, Chris. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 20 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. A Knight's of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.
