Obituary

Lou Jean Martens, 84, died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at Parkdale Manor in Maryville, MO.  Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 19 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA.  Burial will be in the Linn Grove Cemetery, rural Norwalk.

Lou Jean was born and raised in Indianola.  Her married life was in Martensdale.  She was a housewife and active in many clubs and activities through out her life (Garden Club, PTA, Lutheran Ladies Aid, 4H and Boy Scouts).  She was a member of the Martensdale Community Church.  Her hobbies were fishing, golfing, bowling, mushrooming and quilting.  She spent her winters in Mesa, AZ from 1983 to 2003.

She is survived by daughters, Ann (Ed) Martin of Maryville, MO; Paula Mindell of Littleton, CO; sons, Brian Martens of Forestville, CA and Brad (Betsy) Martens of Missoula, MT; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 1-5 p.m., Sunday, September 18 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 3-5 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be designated to the Martensdale Congregate Meal Site or Bevington Garden Club.
