Obituary

Lorraine (Rainie) Schultz of Olive Branch, MS (formerly of Indianola IA) moved to her heavenly home on June 19, 2008. Lorraine was born in Ackley, IA August 14, 1925. She graduated from Ackley High School and then the University of Iowa with a BS degree in social work. She touched many lives through her dedication to others as shown in her work at Caroline Mission in St. Louis, State of Iowa Child Welfare & Adoption, Indianola High School & Lutheran Social Services in Des Moines.

Lorraine's passions in life were her faith and family. Lorraine was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola IA. Throughout her life she started the Sunday school program, served as vacation church director, directed Youth Choir with Helen Comnick, a member of Lutheran Church Women Group and was the first woman to serve on the church council. She took great pride and joy in the church's growth and development into the caring community it continues to be today.

On October 24, 1949 she married Chet Schultz, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1986. Lorraine leaves a lifetime of cherished memories and her eternal love to: daughters- Sandi (Larry) Abbas, of Olive Branch, MS, Jan (Bryan) Fellows of Lino Lakes, MN, three grandsons, Dax (Mandy) Abbas of Windsor Heights, IA, Cory (Emily) Abbas of Des Moines, IA and Deston Fellows of Lino Lakes, MN. Five great-grandchildren, Hadley, Rowen, Crey, Schultz and Rylann Abbas. Sister- Marilyn Harken of Camdenton, MO, Brothers- Duane (Jo) Meyer of Grinnell, IA, Leroy (Lois) Meyer of Lake Forest, IL.

Her family and friends were inspired by her grace, kindness, courage, strength, faith and love. We are honored, grateful and blessed to have been a part of her life. Our memories of Lorraine's love will embrace us always. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA. Celebration services at 10:30 am Thursday, June 26 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola, IA. Family requests memorials be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lorraine's name.
