Funeral services for Lorna Louise Orfield, 87, who died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center, will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 23 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday in the Murray Cemetery, Murray, IA

Lorna was born in Murray, on April 23, 1922. After graduating high school, she attended Drake University for two years. She was an Indianola resident for almost 60 years. She worked in the actuary department for Bankers Trust and later Principal Financial Group where she retired after 25 years of service.  Lorna was a member of the Rebecca's Lodge for 50 years and also enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, knitting, crocheting, making porcelain dolls, traveling, camping, and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Becky) Orfield of Des Moines, IA; daughters, Sharon (Gordy Wells) Utsler of Indianola, and Barbara (Michael) Johnson of Sac City; 6 grandchildren and their families and 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth White of Indianola, and Jean Madland of Fountain Hills, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; son, Roger; sister, Margaret Poil; and brothers, Lowell Miller and Dale Miller.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 22 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. to greet friends.
