Loretta (Laurie) Koester, 102, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at The Village in Indianola. Graveside services were held in the Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, Iowa. Loretta was born July 26, 1912 in Canistota, South Dakota to Herman and Ricka (Engfer) Mews. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1930 and then St. Vincent's School of Nursing in 1934. Loretta lived in Paullina, IA, Sheboygan, WI, Des Moines, IA, Sauk Center, MN and Pella, IA before moving to Indianola and then The Village in July of 1997. Faith was a very important part of her life. Survivors include her children, E. James Koester and Linda Donnelly; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
