LOIS E. MURPHY

Services for Lois Elaine Murphy, 71, who passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in Des Moines, will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 22 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.  Burial will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, IA.  The visitation with family will be held one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.

Lois was born September 30, 1946 to Walt and Edna Johnson.  She lived in New Virginia, Iowa where she went to school and graduated from Interstate 35 High School in 1965.  She married her loving husband Fred in 1967 and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.  They made their first home in Indianola where they had their daughter Shannon and son Justin.  They moved to Norwalk in 1979.

As a young mother Lois stayed home and raised her children.  In 1982 Lois went to work at Farm Bureau where she retired as a Service Representative after 25 years of service.

As a grandmother Lois enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren.  The grandchildren led Lois to many sporting events, school activities and adventures.

Lois is survived by her husband, Fred; children, Shannon (Mark) Duffy and Justin (Bev) Murphy; six grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Hanson, Carolyn Gustafson and Leona Weeks.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Walt and Edna Johnson.
