Services for Lois Marguerite Davis, 92, of Norwalk, who passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehab, will be held 11 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Visitation with family will be held prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A private family burial will be in the Linn Grove Cemetery, rural Norwalk.
Lois Marguerite (Woodward) Davis was born to Dan and Alice (Headrick) Woodward in Indianola, Iowa on April 20, 1931. In December 1935, she was blessed with a little sister, Mary (Woodward) Streeter.
In May 1948, she met the love of her life, Richard Davis and they dated for 1 year. She graduated from Indianola High School in May 1949 and was married on June 10, 1949 at the Methodist parsonage in Indianola.
On June 14, 1950, their first son, Steven was born. Marshall was born June 24, 1952. Twins, Jon and Barry were born October 25, 1953 and then along came Christine, who was born March 21, 1959.
Lois never worked outside of the home. She was a homemaker and raising five children was a big job!
Richard retired in April 1983 and together they enjoyed traveling, gardening, bird watching and going to the grandchildren's sports, school activities and overnight slumber parties.
Lois was a member of the Linn Grove United Methodist Church. Religion was a big part of her life and she read the bible and prayed faithfully. Her pride and joy were her 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her children, Steven Davis, Marshall (Gwenna) Davis, Jon (Jeniece) Davis, Christine (Richard) Brown; grandchildren, Matthew (Kelli) Davis, Jessica (Dan) Fish, Sean (Cassie) Davis, Eric (Amy) Davis, Sarah (Joe) Criger, Katie (Eric) Taylor, Gabrielle (Chris) Foshe, Zachary (Megan) Davis, Nichole (Mickey) Wyman, Ryan (Amber) Brown, and Timothy (Nicole) Brown; great-grandchildren, Makenna, Jackson, Tyson, Devan, Dillon, Kaylie, Addison, Carter, Max, Elliott, Teagan, Knox, Renee, Landon, Russell, Audri, Skylar, Austin, Dallas, Brock, Macie and Camdon; and a sister, Mary Streeter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Davis; son, Barry Davis; and her parents, Dan and Alice Woodward. Memorials in memory of Lois may be given to Linn Grove United Methodist Church.
