Funeral services for Linda Mathany, 80, of Woodburn, Iowa, who passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with cremation following services. Visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m., prior to services, at the funeral home.
Linda Raye Willey Mathany was Born July 9, 1943 to Harold (Rabbit) Willey and Erma Fern Danielson Willey in Mount Ayr Iowa. She enjoyed barrel racing and riding her horses, especially Virgina Dare (Ginger), Rusty, and Sheena her favorite. She won ribbons for racing and got first place for having the prettiest horse.
Linda graduated from Mount Ayr, High School in 1961. She stayed in Mount Ayr and that is where she met her husband of 57 years, Dave Mathany. Dave's sister Lenora introduced them in 1964 and when Linda stepped onto the dance floor and looked into Dave's eyes, she knew he was the one. They married May 7, 1966. From that union they had 3 children, David, Donnie and Stacey and raised their family in New Virginia, Iowa.
Linda enjoyed working at the schools in Indianola, as she got to see her grandkids during lunch time, as well as working in the nursing home in Indianola and Mount Ayr. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite and prized flowers were her rose bushes. She and Dave also enjoyed going dancing, playing cards with friends, and visiting the casinos.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Dave; children, David (Stacy), Donnie, and Stacey (Bill) Bough; grandkids, Cody Howe (Kelley), Amanda Van Clark (Alex), Billy Bough (Justine), Emili Woodward (Jaina), Hannah Mathany (Talon), Hailee Colclasure (James), Elizabeth Mathany (Callie), Julie Timm; great-grandkids, Jade, Coltyn, Kylie, Colby, Elijah, Emberli, Elexus, Millie, Eddy, Enzli, Kadence, Jerrin, Onyx, Trinity, Jasper, Norma, Lauren, Ender, Oliver, Sage, and James III; and sister-in-law, Pam Willey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Erma; sister, Marilyn; brother, Norman; great-granddaughter, Katryna; and nephews, Jimmy and Mike.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Linda to the Wounded Warriors Project.
