A Celebration of Life Gathering for Linda Jo Bartling, 64, of Ackworth, who passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in Des Moines, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home. Private family inurnment of cremains will be in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Linda is survived by her husband Tab Bartling; children, Nick Bartling and Jacy (Camren) Ripperger; mother, Marjorie Kohl; siblings, Steve (Sarah) Kohl and Susan (Bill) Rostad. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Kohl.

Linda's roots are in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where she was raised in a loving family. She graduated from high school there and later pursued an associate's degree in graphic design from Hawkeye Tech. During her high school years, Linda met her husband, Tab, with whom she shares two children and a happy marriage of 44 years. In 1985, Linda and Tab made Indianola their permanent residence, and it has been their cherished home ever since. Linda continued a career in the creative field throughout her life and was currently working as a Sales and Marketing Coordinator at Grand Living in West Des Moines. In this position, she has developed strong connections with both residents and staff, considering them as close friends.

Linda was best known for her role as a devoted mother, beloved wife, and a friend to all. She had a special gift for making everyone feel valued, listened to, and supported. Her nurturing nature was evident in everything she did, particularly when discussing her children, cuddling with her cat Murphy, and tending to her numerous flowers and plants. Linda found joy in traveling and spent summers exploring the United States with her family. Recently, she embarked on trips to Alaska, Niagara Falls, and Ireland with her husband and friends.

Linda will be loved and missed by all.

Memorials in memory of Linda may be given to Kiya Koda Humane Society.
