Lester was born April 6, 1926 in New Virginia, Iowa and was raised in the New Virginia and St. Marys area graduating from St. Marys High School. He was devoted to his family and many friends.

Surviving are his daughter, Carla (Doug Phillips) Peck of Polk City; son, Kelley (Lyn) Perdue of Winterset; sister, Maxine M. (Don) Shutt of Denver, Co; and three grandchildren, Caleb Peck, Nicholas Neally and Emily Neally. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Thelma Perdue.

Visitation will be held 4 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 21 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 – 8:00 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Chapel of Faith Church.
