Mrs. Ewalt was born September 20, 1908 in Coin, Iowa, to William Thorn and Jennie Reynolds Thorn. She married Dale Ewalt May 23, 1934. She attended grade school in Shenandoah, Iowa and graduated from Clarinda High School in 1923. Leona worked as a telephone operator for a few years in Indianola.

Leona attended Simpson College in 1934 a few years, and again in 1954. She was active in the United Presbyterian Church, and was president of the Simpson Alumni Association.

Leona is survived by son, Marshall and daughter-in-law, Sharon who live in Sarasota Florida. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dale in 1986.

Visitation will be held 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 8 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
