Obituary

Services for Henry Lee Denning, 92, who died Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center, of respiratory failure will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 10 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services with military rites will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday in the Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa.

Mr. Denning was born in Kansas City, MO and had served in the United States Navy in the submarine corps during WWII stationed in the Philippine Islands. His career in business started in Los Angeles working as an accountant in international construction, aerospace, and computer technology. He moved to Indianola in the 1970's and continued his career with the Polk County Department of Human Services as an accountant. He was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church and Rotary Club in Indianola. Lee loved to play golf and played until he was 90.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Dannie (Daryle) Russell of Bradenton, FL and Jeffrey (Judy) Denning of La Jolla, CA; step children, Jennifer (R.V.) Hodge of Williston, NC and Philip Kamm of Cedar Rapids; 5 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Denning; 2 sisters and a brother.

Visitation will be held 3:00 – 8:00, Thursday, November 9 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the International Rotary Foundation or Warren County Habitat for Humanity.
