LAWRENCE L. KATZ

A graveside service and burial of ashes for Lawrence Katz, 87, of Urbandale, who passed away May 26, 2018 will be held 11:00 a.m., September 16, 2018 at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, IA.

Lawrence was born March 14, 1931 in Des Moines to Samuel and Sarah Katz.  Larry operated Security Loan Company in Valley Junction, IA for over 30 years. Many of his friends knew him and his activities and his little green building on 5th Street in Valley Junction. Larry enjoyed old cars and had a 1957 Thunderbird.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; parents, Samuel and Sarah (Marcus) Katz; step-son, Brent Meckley; siblings, Geraldine Frisch Molomot and Miriam Katz; and nephew, Lewis Stephen Frisch.  He is survived by his nephew, Allan (Susan) Frisch and children Christian and Elliot; great nieces, Dena Clontz, Natalie Frisch, Cameron Clontz, Kendal Clontz, Amina Frisch; cousin Janet Freedman; step-daughter-in-law, Judy Meckley; step-grandchildren, Brad (Gail) Meckley, Jennifer (Mark) Hartsook; and step-great-grandchildren, Aaron and Grace Meckley and Allison and Meredith Hartsook.
