Services for Lawrence Keith Jenkins, 71, who died Monday, October 1, 2007, will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 5 at the First Baptist Church in Indianola. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 5 at the Moon Cemetery, Macksburg, Iowa.
Larry was born in Independence, M., the son of Wilbur and Nellie Jenkins. He graduated from Cameron High School in Cameron, MO. He was working for a road construction crew when he met Sally and they were married in the Baptist Church in Macksburg, IA on September 29, 1957. Larry had worked for several different farmers in the Central Iowa area. Including the Hartford, Booneville and Farrar areas. They moved to Indianola in 1960 where he worked for Dick Currier and then returned after a couple of years away and worked for Marywood Farms. When he retired he had worked a total of 34 years for the Diehl Family. Larry and Sally move into town in 1985. Following his retirement he went to work for the First Baptist Church as a custodian. He was an avid gardener and also helped with Boy Scout Troop # 124 which meets in the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife Sally; children, Jeffrey Jenkins of Macksburg, Jacque Glascock of Indianola, John Jenkins of Baltimore, MD, and James (Shelly) Jenkins of Zwingle; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Hayes, Brian Glascock, Gerold (Jessica) Glascock, Jerimy Jenkins, Jordon Glascock, Scott Jenkins; 3 great grandchildren, Mackenzie Hayes, Cheyenne and Kayla Glascock; sister, Nancy (Dale) Walters of Kansas City, MO; and sister-in-law, Lou Jenkins of Belton, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Nellie Jenkins; and 2 brothers, Russell and Byron Jenkins.
Visitation will be held 3 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 4 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Indianola.
