Obituary

Lawrence “Larry” Jack of Carlisle, passed peacefully at Mercy Hospital on August 22, 2026, in the comfort of family after a brief illness. To say a life’s worth is measured by the legacy they leave behind is true of Larry. A great sales career in the petroleum industry, deep Iowa roots (and lifelong Iowa fan!), and patriarch to a big family, his type of character cannot be easily replicated in our modern world anymore. Growing up a farm boy in Louisa County in the 1930s and 40s and living to the charmed age of 96 produced a man who was practical, wise, humble, friendly, and keenly intelligent.

Left to hold dear his memory are children, Christine (Tom Davey) Langebartels, Lawrence “Laird” (Mary) Jack, Martha Dalton, and Scott Jack; stepsons, Kenneth (Kristen) Isley and Michael (Karen) Isley; 11 grandchildren, Jack(Emily) McCauley,Chad(Bethany) Langebartels, Courtney (Curt) Seddon, Matthew (Heather) Langebartels, Luke Langebartels, Amy (Sam) Clark, Joshua McCauley, Harley (Kyra) Dalton, Brooklynstar (Anthony) Saint, Ella Rose Jack, Owen Jack, 6 step grandchildren, Eric(Fran) Isley; 24 great grandchildren, Devon, Faith, Caleb, Brody, Norah, Kaylee, Jayden, Miley, Alexa, Malachi, Elijah, Hadassah, Prestin, Anabelle, Ethan, Samuel, Bradley, Tristan, Kaydance, Bria, Ersa, Dante, Mark, and Eren; beloved sister, Pamela Butler; and nephew, Brandon Butler. He was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Virginia Jack; wife, Madonna Jack; brother-in-law, Terry Butler; sons in law, Henry Langebartels and Freddie Dalton; and former wife, Shirley Davis Jack.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Community United Presbyterian Church in Hartford. Inurnment of cremains will be in Palmyra Cemetery, Palmyra.
