Lawrence "Larry" Edward Campbell, passed away November 15 th , 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones in Indianola, IA. Family services for Larry will be held Friday, November 20, 2020. You may join the family on our Live Stream starting at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 20 located on Larry's obituary page of our website. A Public visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020, at First Assembly of God Church, 1700 West 2 nd Ave, in Indianola. Burial will follow services at the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Lawrence was born July 8 th , 1934 on the farm near Manly, IA to Donald and Florence Campbell. Lawrence married Barbara Leeman in 1956. He and Barbara were married for 64 years.
Larry worked and retired from Frank Paxton Lumber Company after 25 years. After retirement, he worked part-time at the Christian Church and the Bag & Save Grocery in Winterset, IA. Larry and Barb spent many of their years in Winterset, IA and previously lived numerous years on the Southside of Des Moines, IA.
Larry was a devout Christian. He loved Jesus, his wife and family. He had a passion for collegiate wrestling, baseball, and football, and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia as well as a massive collection of Country & Western albums. For all the years Larry and Barb were married, Larry didn't want to be away from Barb and Barb didn't want to be away from Larry. Their love for each other was unwavering. Just like Barbara, Larry also loved their dogs.
Larry is survived by his sisters Betty, Mary Lou, and Barbara; his brothers Keith and Jimmy; his children Valerie (Mike) Burton, William (Brenda) Campbell, Kent (Camille) Campbell and Britt (Lynnette) Campbell; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
As of November 17, 2020, pursuant to the Governor's proclamation, guests for visitation will be limited to 15 people inside at a time. Masks are required.
