Obituary

Funeral services for Laveeda Caffrey McIntyre Fosnaugh, 95, who died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center, will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 28 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial will follow in the Hartford Cemetery.

Laveeda Addline Caffrey, daughter of Ralph and Retha Dunham Caffrey, was born February 12, 1910, in a farming area located about seven miles from Pleasantville, Iowa, known as Pinchy. She was raised by her grandparents, Leon (Pa) and Sarah (Ma) Dunham. She graduated from Pleasantville and later received a teacher's certificate. She taught in a country school before she was married.

She married Kenneth Harry McIntyre on June 21, 1929, in the Indianola Presbyterian Church. To this union two sons were born, Norman Dean and Harry Calvin.

On February 22, 1935, just three months and four days after Harry's birth, Kenneth died in a truck accident. After Kenneth's death, Laveeda and the boys moved to Pleasantville. Laveeda went back to school to renew her teacher's certificate and taught elementary grades at OK country school, Pleasantville, Shenandoah, Hawthorne in Indianola, Army Post, and Mitchell School in Des Moines. She retired in 1975, from Mitchell.

She and the boys moved to Indianola in 1944. On February 4, 1955, she married Roy Fosnaugh. Laveeda was a long time member of the Indianola BPW and Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her two sons, Norman of Earlham and Harry (Marilyn) of Indianola; one sister, Pauline Wylder of San Bernardino, CA; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brother.

Visitation will be held 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church or Chapel of Faith.
