LARRY "RED" VAN PELT Indianola A celebration of life visitation for Larry "Red" Van Pelt, 81, who passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 29 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends. Red was a self-employed painter. He also was employed 25 years for Simpson College and served his country in the United States Navy. Survivors include his wife, Sheery of Indianola; sons, Tom (Mavis) Van Pelt of Afton, Kenny (Kathy) Van Pelt of Ames and Kelly (Kristie) Van Pelt of Polk City; step-daughter, Genia (Mike Pottorff) Rapp of Indianola; six grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Brandon and Katelyn Van Pelt, Zach and Chris Rapp; and one great-grandchild, Izik Rapp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marie (Thornley) Van Pelt.
