A Celebration of Life Visitation for Larry W Showers, 81, of Osceola, who passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024 will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola.

Larry lived a full, rich life.  He was born the oldest of 7 children in Leon, Iowa on December 16, 1942.  He met the love of his life, Sharon, in the summer of 1959 when their respective best friends set them up on a blind date. The rest is history.  The two were united in matrimony in December of 1959.  By June of 1963 their small family included three beautiful daughters. Five years later their beloved son was born, and the family was complete.

Larry's biggest life dream was to have his own farm.  After working many years cutting meat and even owning his own locker, he was able to see that dream realized.  Sharon worked right alongside him and they continued to raise their family.

They would spend many years traveling the country in their camper, spending many winters in Arizona.  Larry and Sharon were able to have their dream vacation for their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. Before his passing, Larry & Sharon celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Larry is survived by his wife Sharon; children, Sherry (Steve) Saunders, Terri (Rick) Davitt, Karrie (Jerry) Cordell, Kirk (Melissa) Showers; grandchildren, Shane (Melanie) Saunders, Steven (Tammy) Saunders, Benjamin (Sarah) Davitt, Brooke (Andrew) Burk, Beth (Zachary) Beeler, Sara (Andrea) Collins, Christian (Taylor) Cordell, Renee (Benjamin) Walton, Mikayla Showers, Katelynn Showers; 21 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ramona (Bill) Jolly, Raymond Showers, Rosanna Brammer, Marcia (Bret) Lesan, Dana Showers; many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Bessie; sister, Marguerite Prickett.
