Services for Larry Denzil Johns, 75, of Des Moines previously of Indianola, who passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024, will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Overton Funeral Home with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to services from noon to 2 p.m.

Larry Denzil Johns was born on September 8, 1949, the son of Denzil Eugene and Faye Louise (Gunzenhauser) Johns. Larry graduated from Southeast Warren School District in 1968.

On June 10, 1977 he was united in marriage to Betty Louise (Pike) Wells. Larry worked as a welder retiring from EMCO in Des Moines in 2013.

He enjoyed having coffee with his friends around town, visiting his friends at the nursing home, and spending time at home playing cards and games with his family. Larry also enjoyed going to the Senior Center three days a week to exercise and play Fast Track with his friends.

Larry is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Johns; children, Little Larry, Beth and Joni; step-children, Bettylee Miller, Karla (Jerry) Samo, Leona Kane and Neal (Joyce) Miller; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Robin (Richard) Waters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Denzil and Faye Johns; brothers, Rick and Les Johns.
