Larry was born near Truro, IA and graduated from Indianola High School in 1956. He served in the United States Navy and was discharged in 1960. He then went to work for the City of Des Moines at Des Moines Water Works. When he retired he was a supervisor.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharron (Jerry) Hypes of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Gerrilyn (Mark) Lane of Indianola, Deanna (Brian) Wheeler of Waterloo and Jerry (Ann) Hypes Jr. of Des Moines; four great-grandchildren, Austin Lane, Dustyn, Taylor and Hannah Wheeler; as-well-as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Wanda.

Visitation with family present will be held 2 - 4 p.m., Monday, September 7 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
