Larry Wayne Harvey, 76, passed away on Saturday August 29, 2015 in Indianola, IA. He was born to Gladys and Lawrence Harvey on September 25, 1938 in St. Mary's, IA. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, reaching the rank of E5 during his service, serving aboard the U.S.S Wiseman and the U.S.S. John A. Bole. He worked as an electrician for 35 years, being a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW Local 347), where he was eventually elected president prior to his retirement. He was a member of the John A. Bole and Tin Can Sailors societies. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Wilma in 2009, along with his parents. Surviving him are his children, Lisa Rock (Jeffrey) of Urbandale, IA and Laurie Dozer (Brian) of London, OH; granddaughters, Sarah Bechtel of Iowa City, IA and Stephanie Dozer of London, OH. He is also survived by brothers, Dale and Bill of Colorado Springs, CO and Rick of Lacona, IA; and sister, Shirley of Anamosa, IA; along with various extended family members and friends. A visitation and social gathering for family and friends will be held on Thursday September 3, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Indianola. Private family inurnment of cremains will be held in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry's name to the Good Samaritan Society, Indianola.
