Kristie Lee (Alexander) Barnes

Kristie "Kris" Barnes, of Omaha (formerly of Spring Hill) died on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at her home in Omaha.

Graveside services for Kristie will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28 at the Webb Cemetery in Warren County, IA.

Kris was born June 21, 1949 in Des Moines, IA to Wendell and Ilo (Hagen) Alexander.  She grew up in Spring Hill and graduated in 1967 from Norwalk High School.  She went on to graduate from AIB and then started her career with Northwestern Bell in Des Moines and transferred to Omaha where she retired after 35 years.  She met her husband, John, while working at the phone company and they were married on April 4, 1981.  Since their retirement, they traveled to Florida during the winter to get away from the winter cold.

She is survived by her husband, John Barnes; sister, Connie (Frank) Oberender; eleven nieces, six nephews, 13 great-nieces and 15 great-nephews and many cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Ilo Alexander.
