Kristi Lynn Ellingson, 53, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 28. Kristi is survived by her husband, Keith; daughters, Jessica, Catie and Bailey; grandson, Tucker;mother, Helen Olson of Decorah; and sisters, Lisa Olson of Minneapolis, Linda Olson of Ames, Vicki Westendorf of Waverly, Donna Faldet and Dianne Borowski both of Decorah; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kristi was born in Decorah on May 25 1957. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1975 and The University of Northern Iowa in 1980. Kristi spent over 20 years working at Simpson College where she was employed at the time of her death. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as Sunday School secretary for many years. Kristi enjoyed being physically active and loved the outdoors. Kristi was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on her 51st birthday. She battled the disease courageously for 2 and a half years. Throughout this time she took great pride in knowing the personal stories of all the medical people that worked with her in this battle. She was always grateful for their efforts to assist her. Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, October 31 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition or Kiya Koda Humane Society.
