Obituary

Kevin A. Alstott, 79, formerly of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, passed away October 23, 2026, at The Village care facility in Indianola. He was born on April 28, 1947, to Maurice and Bernadine Alstott.

Kevin attended schools in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in May 1965. He then received a BA from Iowa Central Community College and was attending UNI when he was drafted into the Army. Before going to Vietnam, Kevin married Constance Watson. They had two children and later divorced.

He was wounded in combat in March of 1969 for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He recovered and served the rest of his time as a guard in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He then joined his father at RMC Products where rat and mouse poisons were manufactured and delivered to the farm industry.

In 1986, Kevin founded C&S Products, a manufacturer of wild bird suet. The products were sold nationwide and throughout Canada and Europe. The company received many awards over the years including Vendor of the Year for shipping and fulfillment from Ace, Do It Best, Lowes, Home Depot and Walmart.

Kevin married Karen Orness in 1991. He and Karen’s hobbies included street rods built by Roger Burman, boating and fishing in the ocean, ATVing, snowmobiling and UTVing in the mountains and sand dunes and rock crawling in Utah.

Kevin and Karen owned and operated C&S together, selling the company in 2019 to Central Garden and Pet. After selling C&S Products, he and Karen retired to rural Warren County.

Kevin was preceded in death by both of his parents and three brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Karen, five children; Sean (Josephine) Alstott, Stephanie (Patrick) Bond, Angie (Curtis) Detmering, Wendi (Jason) Fredregill and Jill (Scott) Gillespie, 11 grandchildren and his brother, Kim.
