Kent
Ruble
September 19, 1956 — July 28, 2026
Carlisle
Kenton "Kent" Ruble, of Carlisle, IA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Norwalk Nursing & Rehab in Norwalk. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2026, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow services at Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Woodburn, IA.
Kent dedicated his life to agriculture and the land he loved. Farming throughout Warren and Marion counties, he built his livelihood through hard work, determination, and a deep respect for the soil. At a young age Kent began milking cows and putting up hay for Myron Smith and then began working for Herschel Parts, where he developed skills and saved until he was able to purchase his first tractor. From there, he began custom farming hay and steadily grew his own operation into a successful farm.
On September 2, 2006, Kent married the love of his life, Jayne Darlene Olson. Together they built a life centered on family, and on July 16, 2010, they welcomed their son, Wade, who became the pride and joy of his life.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Kent also founded Ruble Dozing, where he provided land-clearing and earthmoving services, helping shape ponds, terraces, and building sites across South Central Iowa. He was a forward-thinking farmer and played an instrumental role in introducing no-till farming practices in Warren County, leaving a lasting impact on local agriculture.
Beyond his work, Kent was committed to serving and supporting the farming community. He served as a Farm Service Agency Committeeman and was actively involved in FFA, encouraging and mentoring young people in agriculture. He was also an active member of the Hartford Sportsman's Club, where he enjoyed spending time with fellow outdoorsmen.
Kent treasured the outdoors and the friendships he built throughout his life. He looked forward each year to annual fishing trips to Canada with his friends and especially enjoyed spending quiet evenings taking his son fishing. He also enjoyed golfing and made numerous golf trips to Las Vegas with friends, creating many lasting memories. In his free time, he also found great enjoyment in deer hunting and appreciating the quiet moments outdoors.
Kent is survived by his wife, Jayne; son, Wade Ruble; siblings, Rhonda (John) Crouse, Kim Warner, and Kirk Ruble; siblings-in-law, Loren (Marylinn) Olson and Joyce Olson; nieces and nephews, Meredyth Olson, Korynna Olson, Michaela (Tony) Saucedo, Victoria Ramirez, Josh (Rita) Crouse, Kristin Crouse, John (Vanessa) Crouse, Brook (Will) Downard, and Aaron (Chris) Page; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald Ruble and Louise Titchbourne.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 2, at Overton Funeral Home, where the family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions in memory of Kent may be given to the Pink Tractor Foundation or the Hartford Sportsman's Club.
