Memorial services for Kent E. Amsberry, 70, who passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA of COPD, will be held 11 a.m., Friday, October 26 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola. Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery, Steamboat Rock, Ia.

Kent was born September 9, 1948 in Des Moines to Kenneth and Fern  (Risinger) Amsberry, with Kenneth having passed away before Kent was born. Kent lived in Steamboat Rock until his fith year when he and his mother moved to Indianola. Kent graduated from Indianola High School and continued his education at Waldorf College in Forest City, where he met his wife Susan L Barrett. They were married on July 5, 1970.

Kent worked at various jobs in Indianola, Las Vegas, NV, and Des Moines where he ended up as a Real Estate Broker and Appraiser. His illness prevented him from working beyond 2004.

Kent lived in Indianola and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir. Kent loved to golf, fish and vacation in Minnesota.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; one aunt, Mildred Risinger; several cousins, and in-laws.

Visitation will be held before services from 9 to 11 a.m., Friday, October 26 at Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Memorials in Kent's name may be made to Indianola High School Music Booster Club.
